Re: [asianamericanromance] Memorial Day

It was THIS Memorial Day 2009 that I learned that the Memorial Day Holiday was started when a group of women in Columbus placed flowers on the graves of  1864 Confederate and Union Civil War dead  There were over 600,000 casualties in that bloody 'War Between The States' which was fought to make men free. It is especially gratifying to see our young men and women returning from Iraq this Memorial Day and we pray they will be returning ,as victoriously, from Afganistan shortly. It pains Americans greatly to expend the lives of our heroic young men and women in far off lands so as to allow Womankind to achieve the dignity and respect God intended for them to have. But if not us, then who? If some others would step up, we would happily stand down.

Subject: [asianamericanromance] Memorial Day

I hope everyone has a good Memorial Day. And that everyone takes a minute out of their day to remember the brave men who died in war so that others can have a better life. It not matter if you believe in war or not-we should still honor the brave soliders who risk their life for all of us.

It always interest me that so many people take today as just an excuse to have a holiday and day off without really thinking about what this day means.

In Thailand. We not have Memorial Day (we honor our past differently) . And I think it something very special for America to have this day. I hope that everyone take a minute to think about what this day really means--and to take a minute to think about how much better of a life everyone have because of the brave men and women who sacrafice their life for all of us.
