Khwan:
Tommy has a point.
His viewpoint is as valid as anyone else’s; that’s what supposedly makes America so “great”.
But; one must wonder what motivated these people living in tents and caves to hate a country so far away with so many freedoms.
Suggested reading:
“Confessions of an Economic Hitman”
“The Secret History of the American Empire”
“Avatar” the movie.
In 1980; most of the free world boycotted the Olympics because Russia had the audacity to invade Afghanistan.
In 2010; Canada is happily supporting a despotic and corrupt puppet government set up in Afghanistan by American oil interests.
Oddly enough; Canada got to host the 2010 Olympics. Hmmmmmmm; let’s think about that.
We must now juxtapose the efforts to tame Afghanistan with the BP “efforts” and cover-up in the Gulf of Mexico.
So: have soldiers died for our freedoms or for big business and the interests of oil companies? What is the truth?
Or; is this just another Vietnam?
How many of the problems in the Middle East are due to the undue influence large petroleum companies have had in these countries?
Unlike WWI & WWII; “War” was not declared on Afghanistan nor Iraq. The mythical “Osama bin Laden” was originally educated and trained by Americans.
What went wrong there? It’s the same in Panama; the USA (CIA) set up Noriega, then; invaded grabbed him, extricated him to the USA and imprisoned him.
Would the USA have tolerated BUSH being grabbed and jailed in Ethiopia? (OH!: bad example; many would likely cheer for that > LOL).
At any rate; we can all agree to disagree and we are all quite welcome to go to hell in our own choice of transportation.
Those are two parameters of living in a “free” country.
Jerry
I sorry that you miss and do not understand the meaning of my post.
Maybe your heart is so full of anger and hate that you cannot appreciate the sacrifices so many gave so you can have the life that you have. And that is a disgrace on the memory of those who have died for their countries.
