[asianamericanromance] Re: My criterion in hubby

I'm wondering if the few other females on this list are as sick as I am, of this sort of hostile, disrespectful attitude, on this list, which comes up often.

In this instance, several of you don't approve of a woman asking for a man with lots of money.  Does that excuse each of you from any sort of bad behaviour of your own, in how you speak to her?  Telling her to go stand on a street corner and comparing her to a "Christmas cake" or an old car?  The name-calling posts are beneath even addressing.

Disrespect toward each other's political opinions, and toward other cultures, that's all bad enough, especially on this list, considering the theme, here!  But disrespect toward women, in a group about love?  Being so anxious to say hostile things to a woman and put her "in her place," doesn't improve your own appeal any, to other women who sense your anger and resentment, so easily tapped.

I see many males here pleased to talk in very practical, blunt terms, regarding why they're looking for an Asian female, specifically, and maybe one who's not already an American citizen.  They're aren't shy to say they think she'll be more physically attractive, more submissive, less demanding, have a more traditional role in the relationship, that an older guy can find a younger, more attractive girl overseas, where they can leverage their American citizenship, and their U.S. dollars, which may not look like so much in the U.S..

I don't see anyone dogpiling men who talk like this, to say that they shouldn't be so shallow and practical and cold-heartedly calculating, in choosing a mate.  What's the difference between that and a woman who says, I want a man who has a certain level of security and material luxury in his lifestyle?  You've got your practical terms, she's got hers.

To quote from a certain movie,

"Aren't you funny?  Don't you know that a rich man is like a pretty girl?

You don't marry her just because she's pretty.  But, my goodness, doesn't it help?

And would you want your daughter to marry a poor man?  You'd want her to have the most wonderful things in the world.

Why is it wrong for *me* to want those things?"

If you disapprove because you want a relationship to be all about love, and you're promoting higher values, such as love, goodness, kindness, and respect, you've got a funny way of showing it!  Is this how you take the high road, by speaking disrespectfully and taking joy in insulting a woman?!
