I think that amount need to be adjusted VERY much. And I think you need to make clear and define what you think is luxuries and what others might think .

In Los Angeles. That $25,000 might pay for a 2 bedroom apartment. But will not even start to pay for other costs-electricity. water. etc.

When you add costs like food. Car payment. Insurance. Even more money is needed before you can can even start living.

So what is luxuries? Going out the eat? A car? Going to movies? Going to concerts? Traveling? Cellphones?

Moving from another country has many expenses. Long distance calls. Traveling back home to visit relatives. Etc. Are these luxuries not included in $25,000?

And is the $25,000 before or after taxes?

Also. Since this Group is about AsianAmerican relationship-and many here came here to get married on Fiance Visa you have to think that many people can not get job very fast when they first start living here.

And I still not know where all of these cheap houses are. I do reasearch and it say that the CHEAPEST city in the USA (in Iowa) average price for a house is $80,000. That is the CHEAPEST in the country. The average prices for house in the USA is $320,000.

So maybe it cheap in your area-but for most people it not same.
