The point of contention came about (that many objected to) was the expectation for $2M us.
When trying to sell something; really anything; even ourselves there are a few basic tools to use.
First and foremost; sell yourself: do a good job. List your attributes (no; not your measurements{although some do!})
For instance maybe you’re a good cook or like kids or good at sports…
Then; after the “buyer” has evinced some interest: then drop the sale price in private.
If a really great person is made; the sale price might even be re-negotiable or
adjusted prior to scaring off potentially great applicants.
I, too, had to show my wife’s family I was capable and had the resources to support her in an acceptable manner.
But; that came well after the “sale job” on both my & her part had been completed.
After convincing ourselves we wanted to be together; then came the assurance to the family.
Cooler heads prevailed.
They had to know they weren’t sending their daughter off to some penniless beggar with big ideas and no substance.
So: methinks it would be better for you to list all the great things about yourself (shiny black hair, education; like that).

Thankfully; the kids got their looks & brains from mom.
If they took after me, well;…………. glad that didn’t happen.
